December in Chicago

Saturday, December 6, 2008

So this is one of the "You know you are in Chicago when" kind of posts.

In December, and the first two inches have fallen, you know you are in Chicago when every third vehicle is equipped with a snowplow.

Which reminds me of a way to tell if someone in your warmer clime did winter time driving in Chicago. If there is one or two spare gallons of windshield washer fluid in the trunk, likely that they did.

Now I don't remember them putting salt on the roads back in Montana when I was younger. My thinking is that if it is 30 below, salting the road won't do much good, eh?

In any case, they say that at the current rate, Lake Michigan will be a salt-based body of water in 100 years. Seems like there should be a better way.
