The Ides of Febrary

So we are having a major winter here in Chicago. Many of the winters over the last ten years have been not that strong, and in fact some have been, well, frauds.
Talking about extremes of weather often brings me back to my Montana childhood and the rather violent weather that we had then, summer and winter. The sign that I have talked about it too much comes in the form of "Yeah, and I bet you walked three miles to school in the snow". Actually, I generally walked about 20 feet, as my parents drove us.
But I do recall the story of Uncle Warren and Mary using their to go to dinner . That is a true story.
So sometimes stories do swell up as time passes, or get more exaggerated. For example, I am sure that you have heard of the game of telephone, where the kids whisper a story to the kid next to them and by the end of the chain the story gets distorted.
Why (someone on the internet claims) in his youth, before there were telephones, there was the telegraph. The way the game was played in his day was that each kid would bang heads with the kid next to him in morse code to transmit the story. One can only imagine how it ended up by the time it got around to the end.
In other news, look for a new blog soon. Who says nagging does not work. And no, there is no truth to the rumor that his blog is making me feel guilty about not having posted in forever.
