Separation of Church and State

Friday, November 9, 2007

Last night many of us heard a talk given by Dr. Forrest Church on his most recent book "So Help Me God", a discussion about the duration of the issue of church-state separation which apparently has been going on since the beginning.

What I found rather interesting was that during those first years, the Unitarians and Congregationalists and Episcopalians were essentially the religious right, arguing for no separation, and the Baptists were key in establishing religious freedom in the United States.

Interesting, no?
