Food Injury

No, I am not talking about a food fight, as in "I can't do my chores due to my injury sustained in the food fight". There are times that if a certain kind of bread is left out it kind of becomes weapons grade, if you know what I mean.

I am talking about injuries that we do to food. On purpose. Institutionally.

For example: Crushed Pepper. I mean like did anyone ask the pepper if it expected to be crushed?

Or what about Whipped Butter? Now that sounds particularly cruel. Creamed Spinich? Ground Round?? And let's not even think of Turtle Soup.

I remember this lightweight hammer my mother had—plastic handle, and I think an aluminum head. There were two faces to this hammer, one more cruel looking than the other. What was it used for? Pounding the heck out of meat. See what I mean? The whole house shook.

So what is next—Punished Basil? Flailed Lamb? Pureed Radishes? Skinned Potatoes?

Oh, and of course there is Corn Oil. You get that by crushing or squeezing corn until oil oozes out. I can't even imagine the process involved in turning Tartars into Tartar Sauce.
