A rehersal dinner

Friday, September 21, 2007

So the rehersal dinner was tonight. This is hosted by the parents of the groom and consists of all in the wedding party and their parents.

It was thought it would be a neat thing to present a slide show of pictures of each of the to-be-married couple from a young age through the present time. The problem is that all the photos are color prints, there is no slide show software, and there is no projector.

So the scanner is engaged by the now-drafted husband to scan in the selected 125 photos. No slide show? Well, google to the rescue—free download of a slide show program was downloaded a few moments later. The projector was solved by finding a projector-rental place whose very lifeblood must be fueled by rehersal dinner crises such as these. Pictures were moved to the laptop, the projector connected and presto the slide show is working on the vertical blinds.

Fearing that the resident designer would not support bringing the vertical blinds, the designer was encouraged to contact the restaurant to erect a screen.

Upon arrival, the screen was available along with a strategically placed small table for the laptop and projector. We started the slideshow right away, and as the people arrived, they were captivated by the slides. I think I may have seen the mother of the bride wiping away tears within minutes of her arriving.

It was a marvelous dinner, and our restaurant hosts could not have done a better job.

Spectacular work, parents of the groom!

But what lies in wait for tomorrow?
