Before there were interstates

Speaking of summer driving, I have for some time had the fantasy of traveling the length of US 41, which goes near our house. Its northernmost point is in Copper Harbor Michigan, which is that little inverted comma poking up into the lake. Its southernmost point is in Miami. Now that would be an interesting journey, no? And at 200 miles a day, ...

Collecting information about US highways is someone's hobby, of course, and there is some information about US41 there. It seems to be about 2035 miles long. It does seem that there is still a lot of US 41 left, not replaced by the interstate.

Not true for US 91 which used to go through Conrad. It started in Sweetgrass, MT and ended in Long Beach. It has been replaced by I-15. There seeems to be only 163 miles of it left.
