One of the better writers around Annie Proulx has an occasional journal. She is the author of The Shipping News and Accordion Crimes and most famously Brokeback Mountain. A very good writer, she doesn't hold back her opinion much.

The snow has arrived. The driving that I now do (not currently exclusively at home, drat) normally takes about half an hour took an hour and fifteen. Would have been better had I left earlier.
So they closed the place at 14:00, sending everyone home. Took over two hours to get home at that time. Visibility bad, near blizzard conditions, continuing to snow. Probably 6 inches.
The last few weeks have had very low temperatures, zero and occasionally a little less. After the snow storm passes, it will cool off again, they say.
