Eagle Power

Mon Jan 29 23:02:39 2007: Eagle lugging deer head causes Juneau power outage

From the Anchorage Daily News:

JUNEAU - About 10,000 Juneau residents briefly lost power Sunday after a bald eagle lugging a deer head crashed into transmission lines. "You have to live in Alaska to have this kind of outage scenario," said Gayle Wood, an Alaska Electric Light & Power spokeswoman. "This is the story of the overly ambitious eagle who evidently found a deer head in the landfill."

Fourmilog

Mon Jan 29 18:57:10 2007 A fellow of much intellectual and business accomplishment has a blog (he calls it a log) at Fourmlog: None Dare Call It Reason as part of his website. This fellow, John Walker, was co-founder of Autodesk , maker of Autocad and other fine highly technical products. His main site is a conglomeration of history of Autodesk, interesting technical topics, such as The Digital Imprimatur. His log mentioned above often has reviews of books, some very technical, some of general interest.

One of his own books, The Hacker's Diet, is published entirely on the web site.

Another interesting thing available there is "The Solar System Live".

Lots of good stuff there.
